Evangelist Johnson was raised in the wonderful, nurturing environment of Unity Missionary Baptist Church in El Paso under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Onnie Kirk, Sr.  She was well taught and instructed in the faith of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was very active in the church; to include President of the Junior Mission, a member of the usher board, and singing in the choir.

Evangelist Johnson attended the University of Texas at El Paso where she graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Hearing, and Language Disorders and Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She is currently employed by both the El Paso Independent School District as a lead speech-language pathologist and the Rio Grande Speech Therapy Group, where her clientele includes mentally challenged and autistic children with speech and language impairments. Evangelist Johnson is currently enrolled at North Central University in Arizona where she is preparing to enter the dissertation phase of a doctoral degree in special education. It is her desire to teach both undergraduate and graduate coursework in this field.

As a pastor’s wife, she is heavily involved in her church’s ministry.  Her duties include Adult class Sunday School teacher, Bible Study teacher, choir director, Vacation Bible School director, special programs director (Christmas and Easter), and usher.  Evangelist Johnson has a love of writing and has written a six act play entitled “King of Kings” which was performed by a cast of over 50 actors from five local churches in the El Paso area. She has also participated in amateur theater; being featured in a local production of ‘The Miracle Worker’.

As a survivor of advanced stage breast cancer, she is strongly committed to being a support to other men and women who face that devastating diagnosis. To this end she has volunteered with the Reach to Recovery program of the American Cancer Society and has also served as a division trainer for the state of Texas. In this capacity, she traveled to various locations within the state to train other women to become volunteers with the ACS. Above all, Evangelist Johnson has a devout and deep hunger for the Lord and His people and is determined to work until HE says well done!
